When I start talking about Sennheiser, my friends roll their eyes and complain that I’m being too much of an ‘audio snob’. But the fact is, if you have the money, you definitely get what you pay for from the German audio wunderkind.
That said, have you seen the MX W1? It’s pretty clearly the most awesome pair of in-ear earphones I’ve ever seen, but it also costs six hundred dollars. My iPhone doesn’t even cost that much these days.

So, why is this model kind of a big deal?
- Sennheiser hasn’t put out a pair of portable in-ear earphones before. Their headsets rock, to be sure, but they’re big and bulky – definitely not good for listening to your iPod on the train or while running in the park.
- Uncompressed, full-bandwidth audio – these in-ear earphones use KLEER Wireless technology instead of Bluetooth for the best sound quality possible.
- The best feature? The MX W1 lets a friend listen to your audio stream! Gone are the days of sharing a pair of in-ear earphones when you need one of your friends to hear your new favorite song – and all the awkward hunching over and leaning close that comes with it. Of course, your friend has to have her own pair of MX W1s, but you can cross that bridge when you come to it.
Over at the store, we’re taking preorders on the MX W1 in-ear earphones for June delivery. Check them out!

After much deliberation, customer reviews, and product testing, we’re proud to announce EarphoneSolutions pick for Best Headphones is Shure SE530-PTH Earphones! Here’s why we chose these dynamic earphones for our best earphones:
- Clarity – These aren’t your parent’s headphones. Their enhanced clarity and definition provide you with the crispest sound possible. Our reviewers said they experienced stereo sound, highlighting each and every note from your favorite bands. They feature Triple Hi-Definition Drivers with one tweeter and two woofers, so you know you’re hearing your favorite music the way it was meant to be heard.
- Push-To-Hear – You know how annoying it can be when you’re relaxing to your music and someone asks you a question? You have to pause your iPod, take your earphones off, and your moment of zen is lost. Shure, our pick for Best Headphones, comes equipped with the Push-To-Hear control. They include a built-in VoicePort microphone that activates with a push of a button so you can hear the outside world.
- Sound Isolating Sleeves – Sound isolating earphones are the future of headphones, and Shure isn’t just dedicated to staying ahead of technology – Shure creates the technology. Their revolutionary sound isolating earphones make them our Best Headphones for a reason. The earphones feature flexible sleeves that comfortably fit inside your ear to seal in the sound you want.
- Accessories – You’re lucky if you even get a carrying case with most earphones. But not Shure SE530-PTH Earphones – you receive their Premium Accessory Kit with a ¼” adapter, carrying case, and a level attenuator so you can listen comfortably no matter where you are.
We give Shure SE530-PTH Earphones five stars! We’ve tested quite a few earphones over the years, and Shure beats them hands down. Put your hands together for Shure Earphones, our pick for Best Headphones!
